Culture Days

Culture Days

Founded in 2009, Culture Days is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a national network of cultural connections devoted to providing Canadians with opportunities to participate in, and appreciate, all forms of arts and culture. Through an annual three-day national celebration each September, hundreds of thousands of artists and cultural organizations in hundreds of cities and towns come together and invite Canadians to participate in free interactive and “behind the scenes” activities to discover their cultural spirit and passion.

The Vernon Community Arts Centre is proud to take part in Culture Days 2016, on Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1.

On Friday, September 30 we will be hosting a free workshop for writers, musicians and visual artists titled “Stories of the Past” with Keyanna Burgher, focusing on how to take a story and turn it into art. We will also be hosting an opening reception for “Stories of the Past” – an exhibit featuring the work of 7 local artists who have partnered with 7 local seniors to create artwork based on stories from the past. For more information on this, click here.

On Saturday, October 1 we will be hosting several free workshops for all ages! Check out the poster below for information. Registration for the free workshops is open now! Call 250-542-6243 to register. We are also participating in a collaborative project with the Art Gallery, Caetani Centre, and Gallery Vertigo – visit us between 11:00am-3:00pm to decorate a small piece of a sculpture, then head over the Gallery Vertigo to add it to a community sculpture! Make sure to check it out between 3:00-4:00pm to see the final product! Everyone who finishes a piece of the sculpture at all 4 locations will have their name entered to win an ART giftbasket! Free and fun for all ages!

Finally, on Saturday, October 1 we will be hosting a free intimate COFFEE HOUSE concert featuring local musicians and performers. Free food and drink, and great music. All ages are invited to attend! See you there!
