Matt was born and raised in the Fraser Valley until he made his move to the Okanagan in 2002. Since living in Vernon Matt has run several acting programs teaching over a 1000 students.
On top of teaching, Matt works as an actor and director. In the last year, Matt will have directed 6 shows, including the award winning direction of, “The Woman in Black”. His acting credits this last year alone include; ‘Rooster’ in ‘Annie’, ‘Terran’ in the feature film, ‘Battle at Beaver Creek’, ‘John Taylor’ in ‘The Bite’ and lead-principal role in the award winning film, ‘Hitcher’. Matt started acting on stage at a young age and started his directing path in 1997. He studied his craft at Theatre West Van, Douglas College’s acceptance program and UBC-O. Brown also serves on the Powerhouse Board of Executives as Vice President Productions. He is the founder/owner of a recent addition to the Vernon area, The Hub Arts Collective. Matt’s most recent theatre work has been directing, ‘Becky’s New Car’ at the Powerhouse Theatre ‘Aladdin’ at The Hub Arts Collective, ‘Oleanna’ at the Hub that went on to the O-Zone festival where he won ‘Best Director’ for the second consecutive time. Busy with film as well, he won best film in a recent film festival for the comedy, “Kndini: the Great Tragician” and is currently working on-set for the sequel, “A Sister’s Nightmare”. Upcoming projects include acting roles in, “Rebecca” and “The Glass Managerie”.
